There was a fateful moment when Adam and Eve failed and our invincible enemy, death, entered into the world. While the Bible tells us that Eve was deceived – what exactly was the role that Adam played in the narrative?

Did you know that you’ve been called to be God’s underruler? You’ve been tasked with the job of governing and leading, as God’s co-labourer, right here on this fallen earth.

At the very beginning of the story, we see God equip Adam and Eve with His Word. He tells them exactly how they should live in order to fully grasp their blessings in the garden of Eden; the action aspect of their lives. He gives them 5 callings or mandates - the things He requires them to do, the things He designed them to do.

Press through to the very end of this genealogy. You will be rewarded with an interesting discovery - Jesus' genealogy goes all the way back to Adam. And Adam is called the son of God. 

Under the leadership of Jesus, the Church now officiates as God’s prophet, priest and king on Earth.

Today we see that Adam and Eve were blessed by God and given dominion over the Earth. As we’ve said before, they were, in effect, the kings and queens of Earth. This kingly role consisted of stewarding the natural world as well as discipling the children that God would bless them with.

Having received the Word of the Lord, Adam was expected to speak it to his wife and the children that they would have together. This position of proclaiming God’s Word and calling God’s people to hear and obey is remarkably similar to the later role that the Old Testament prophets played.

Adam and Eve, as priests, were to guard their own holiness as well as protect the Garden, the very first Temple where God and man could meet and where God was worshipped. Adam and Eve were supposed to do this by living in obedience to God’s Word.

True love can never be forced. It must be by choice. If we’re to enjoy an authentic relationship with God, it must be by choice.

When we teach children The Big Picture, we refer to these trees as the Two Great Trees of Power – for that is what they are.
