#WALKWITHJESUS 22

Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.

John 20: 14

Reading:  John 20: 14-16

And so, it really did come to pass.

What the prophets of old had seen vaguely and Jesus had spoken clearly, happened. Jesus was raised from death on Easter Sunday and the first person to see him in his resurrected state was his faithful and loyal disciple, Mary Magdalene.

Jesus’ question to her is so poignant – why are you weeping? Did you not believe me when I said I would be raised on the third day? Do you not know who I really am? Do you not yet perceive that I am God in the flesh, death could never hold me? Do you not yet know how to read and believe the Scriptures?

Why do you weep, dear reader? Do you not know that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you in his Father’s house? Do you not know that the Holy Spirit is with you, day and night, along with hosts of heavenly angels? Do you not yet believe that God is able to do for you beyond what you could dream or imagine?

Jesus said that our work is to “believe in God and the one He sent”. Work hard at drawing near to God. Work hard at studying God’s truths and believing them.

Prayer

Help me dear Lord to believe in You and walk in faith.
