FORGIVENESS IS THE HALLMARK OF CHRISTIANITY

- by Gill D'Achada -

This month’s Faith Station, Forgiveness, has been designed by its author, Matthew Olsen, to impress upon us again, how vital forgiveness is to the health of our salvation. So do look out for your July Faith Station in your Inbox and let us know if you didn’t get it.

I was recently commissioned to write a documentary script about the persecuted church in the Middle East and during the course of my research I have come across testimonies and stories of modern-day martyrs and suffering Christians that have moved me greatly. One such story belongs to Richard Wurmbrand, who suffered torture in prison for 14 years because he would not renounce Christ and embrace communism. Although his story is moving, what I found the most challenging about it, was his willingness to forgive and love those who persecuted him.

If you want to read more about his story, his books can be accessed here.

Of course, you and I are not living or working in a country where we could have our heads chopped off for our faith (find out more about the 21 Egyptian Christians beheaded by ISIL in Libya) – but that doesn’t mean we don’t struggle every day, to forgive.

I pray that your devotional studies this month, with the help of Faith Station, will bring you into those deeper levels of forgiveness that start to reflect our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Blessings
