DAY TWENTY-THREE (23 DEC 2020) - COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS

“Many have undertaken to compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the Word..”

Luke 1: 1, 2

Extra readings: John 20:24-31

Luke speaks of “the things that have been fulfilled among us”. These things, the things pertaining to the birth of Christ, were prophesied long before. But at just the right moment in time, the birth of Christ, the incarnation, was fulfilled. The Greek language speaks of this as the kairos time.

Long before the dramatic moment we read about in Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God ...”, God had you specifically in His mind too. And He designed you for this exact moment in time. Has the kairos significance of your life exploded in your consciousness? Just as Jesus’ incarnation occurred at the right point between past time and future time; so your life has occurred at the right point between past time and future time. And just as Christ realised his destiny and calling within time, so will you.

Pause a moment and be reminded once again of the significance of Christmas - for you, your family and the world! It was the beginning of the greatest love story of all time, and you have a special part in it.

Prayer

Dearest God, help me to realise once again the incredible gift that the Incarnation gave us, and the part I have to play.
