Day 73 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

“by what authority are you doing these things?”
Mark 11: 28

Reading:  Mark 11: 27 – Mark 12: 38

Jesus’ adversaries:  ignorance

“Who is this son of man?”, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples”, “so they answered that they did not know where it was from” …

These and many, many other verses like them all point to the fact that the Jewish religious authorities did not know who Jesus was. Despite their learning, they were ignorant. Ignorance is understandable but that doesn’t make it excusable. Ignorance is also extremely dangerous. The more ignorant you are about Jesus, the less you will grow in your faith.

So get rid of any remaining ignorance you may have concerning the true identity and character of Jesus. Instead, “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. This verse means that you should grow in both your understanding of who Jesus is as well as your experiential, relational knowledge of him.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I do not want to make the mistake of presuming that I know who you are. Today and every day, show yourself to me and lead me to the places and times where I can learn more about you.
