DAY 69 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE FALL & THE FLOOD
He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Genesis 3: 10
Reading: Romans 1: 18-32
The sin of Adam and Eve was not an isolated event. The consequences are still with us today.
As we saw in yesterday’s devotional, man’s attitude towards God changed dramatically. It did a complete about-turn. Before, they had welcomed the presence of God with them, walked and talked with Him in the cool of the day.
Once they sinned, they dreaded an encounter with God and hid away from Him. They had become aware of their nakedness and now fear, shame, guilt and dread characterised their attitude towards God. They still knew Him, still had conversation with Him but the quality of the relationship was forever changed.
Isn't it time that you came out of hiding? As a Christian, there is no reason to hide. If you are hiding, it's because the Gospel hasn't quite 'taken' with you. Know this: God knows all your sins, is aware of all your guilt and the things you are ashamed of. He has already removed all of that from you and given you free access to His throne of grace. You have neither to hide from God or man anymore.
Come out, come out - wherever you are.
