DAY 63 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE FALL & THE FLOOD

He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Genesis 3: 1

Reading: Genesis 3: 1-5

Our Reading for today tells the story of Eve being tempted by the serpent. It's very important for us to see in what form his attack came because his tactics have not changed one iota. Let's learn from poor, dear Eve, our mother, and hopefully we will be a little better prepared than she was.

The temptation that Eve faced was to question God's Word. The serpent questioned it and Eve listened to that questioning. She engaged in conversation with the serpent around God's instruction.

That begs the question: How often do you and I do that? I will hazard a guess that we engage with the serpent around God's instructions at least once a day. And that is shameful. It means that we remain in a fallen state. It's actually normal for us, isn't it, to question God's Word? But think of it a different way - it is abnormal for us as redeemed children of God.

It is fundamental to walking with God to understand that His character is absolutely flawless and holy. And thus His Word is completely true and trustworthy.

Prayer

Lord God, I apologise for my mistrust of Your sterling character. Please forgive me.

For the family

Here's a great little lesson in teaching your kids all about trusting God.
