Day 60- FOUNDATION STONE IN THE A YEAR

“As you know, the Passover is two days away…”
Matthew 26: 2

Reading:  Matthew 20: 17 – 19;Matthew 26: 1 - 4

Faith Station this month is devoted to preparing for Easter. Easter was a word used in the Germanic languages to denote the festival of vernal equinox but with the coming of Christianity this term became the term used to remember the resurrection of Christ. These events took place during the Jewish Passover so are also very closely linked to that Feast; in fact, Easter is the fulfilment of the Passover Feast.

We are going to spend this month examining the Easter story; through the eyes and motives of the people involved.

There were literally hundreds of characters involved in the last few days of Jesus’ ministry and life; people like priests and elders, disciples like Judas and Peter, principalities like Satan, powers like Pilate, onlookers like soldiers, devotees like the various women who supported his ministry - and of course, Jesus himself. Who are these characters and what was the nature of their involvement? That’s what we’ll be examining this month.

You and I were also participants in the Easter story; and we’ll be taking a look at the how, when and why of our involvement during this month’s Faith Station devotions too.

Prayer

Father, it is my heart’s deepest desire that during this month of March, as I give myself to the study and meditation of the Easter story, you will truly open it to me and grant me fresh insights and a deeper, more rooted faith.
