Day 53- FOUNDATION STONE IN THE A YEAR

Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.
John 14: 8

Reading: John 14: 7-14

Yesterday we saw how the Jews completely missed seeing Jesus for who he is in his deity, when they could not recognize the works of God that he did. They were too caught up in judging Jesus as blasphemous for considering himself to be God.

In today’s key scripture we see how even the disciples of Jesus still hadn’t fully understood who he is and that he and the Father are one. Immediately after Jesus had said “if you had known me, you would have known my Father also, from now on you do know him and have seen him” in John 14: 7, Philip naively asks “Lord, show us the Father and it is enough for us”. Philip couldn’t grasp what Jesus had just said - that they had already met and seen the Father in Jesus. Seeing Jesus should have been enough for the disciples to believe.

It's like the old saying goes, you can’t see the wood for the trees. Sometimes the truth can be so plainly visible but still we miss it.

When Jesus says “no one comes to the Father except through me” this is because if you do not know Jesus you cannot know the Father as they are one. To know God without knowing Jesus is to not know God at all.

Prayer

Thank You Jesus for being the One who introduces me to the Father. I acknowledge that You are the only way to the Father.
