Day 43 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

I am there in their midst.
Matthew 18: 20

Reading: Matthew 28: 20; John 3: 13

Taken by themselves, the verses that speak directly about Jesus as God provide enough evidence for the church to believe in and teach the deity of Jesus Christ. But the indirect evidence of Scripture is equally compelling, as we discovered yesterday.

Today we’re looking at the fact that the Bible often takes the attributes of God and applies them to Jesus. Like in the example in our readings for today. Can you see that Jesus is attributing omnipresence – the ability to be everywhere – to himself?

The term omnipresence means that God is capable of being everywhere at the same time. It means his divine presence encompasses the whole of the Universe. There is no location that He does not inhabit. He is distinct from the Universe yet inhabits the entirety of it.

Where can you flee from God’s presence? Nowhere.

Prayer
