DAY 292 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXILE

“See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the LORD Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.”

Malachi 3: 1, 2

Reading: Daniel 2: 44; Isaiah 35: 1-4

The prophets begin to speak of God Himself, coming in power, to deliver His people and renew His reign over His people. In one of our Readings for today, Isaiah speaks about the ransomed of the Lord returning and obtaining everlasting joy.

Not only will this be a time of deliverance and joy for God’s people but also the time at which God’s Kingdom is re-established.

Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. (Isa 40:9-11)

Daniel speaks of it this way (Dan 2:44):

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever ...

Through the end-time kingdom that God will set up "the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one and his name one" (Zech 14:9). God, through a future, godly Davidic king will reign over the whole world forever (see Psalm 89). Adam's dominion mandate will be fulfilled through the dramatic saving work of God. In that day "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Hab 2:14).

God’s promises will come to pass – and there will be one who ushers in that kingdom – the Messenger all of Israel has been waiting for. And guess what? You and I are included in this plan.

I love to read about Your faithfulness, and the great plan You have for the salvation of all the Earth.
