DAY 245 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR -THE UNITED MONARCHY

“SO SOLOMON REIGNED OVER ALL KINGDOMS FROM THE RIVER TO THE LAND OF THE PHILISTINES, AS FAR AS THE BORDER OF EGYPT”.
1 Kings 4:21

Reading: 1 Kings 4:20-34 

True to God’s Word, Solomon experienced the full blessing of God. He had everything he could possibly want. He ruled over the Promised Land in its heyday and collected tribute from the surrounding nations. There was peace in his time. The blessing of God extended to all Israel. 

Inevitably, this blessing drew the attention of the nations around about. The blessing of wisdom drew people from all nations who came to experience Solomon’s wisdom and to ask him the hard questions of the day. He was able to solve all the problems that diplomats threw at him. This blessed Kingdom points forward to the future new heavens and new earth, ruled by Jesus. 

Unfortunately the peace and prosperity did not last after the United Kingdom became divided. Violation of the Covenant brings with it the covenant curses. 

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for the outpouring of Your blessing on Solomon’s kingdom. When we see how You blessed him and the nation of Israel, it gives us great hope for the future.
