DAY 201- BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE WILDERNESS

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability
Deuteronomy 8: 18

Reading: Deuteronomy 8

Our reading for today, Deuteronomy 8, really summarise what the Wilderness wanderings have been all about – and reveals the great lesson that the people of God must take away with them from this time.

As you read through Deuteronomy 8, take a coloured pencil and mark each time the words ‘forget’ or ‘remember’ are used. In my count it is 5 times. The people are being warned by Moses not to forget the Lord when they enter the promised land, but to remember Him.

The Wilderness has not only been a difficult time, but it has also been a time of forced, day-by-day reliance on the Lord. It’s been a time of learning faith. The promised land will not be like that..it will be a time of learning faithfulness and stewardship. Under those circumstances it will be much easier to forget God, to start thinking that somehow their effort or intelligence is providing for them.

The Wilderness is not something to forget – on the contrary, it’s your biography with God. Remember every time He’s provided for you. Remember how He’s delivered you from danger and peril. Remember.

As you enter in to all the fullness of your inheritance in Christ, remember. Continue to praise and worship your God. Continue to look for His fingerprints in your every day. In this way, you will never stumble.
