Day 186 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
Reading: Psalm 22; 1 John 5: 14; Romans 8: 28
Bow down Your ear to me. God does hear you. How can you know this? Because the blood of Jesus has washed you of all sin and iniquity, the only thing that was separating you from God. You can know this; God does hear you.
God is not too busy with the affairs of the Universe to know what’s going on in your situation. He lives within you, by His Spirit. He is closer to you than your very own breathing. Believe me, no matter how it feels right now, God knows what’s happening to you and He hears your every moan and cry. He applauds you when you rise up against the insinuation of the evil one and confess...in You O Lord I put my trust. Deliver me speedily.
We must not set times or seasons, yet in submission we may ask for swift as well as sure mercy while remembering that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. Said one believer when explaining what this verse means to him, “if we would just love Him, then all the things in our life, whether good or bad to our soul and body, whether they cause us joy or sorrow, will work out for good. To tell the Lord, “Lord I still love You”, when you face the biggest disappointment of your life is so precious and intimate to Him.”
Christ will be formed in you as you learn to love God even through this trial and allow his life to flow in and from you.
God is immutable, immovable, therefore He is a true rock of refuge. As I write this I hear in the background, on the radio, the words of the lovely old chorus. Let me repeat them here for you, a great song to sing in times of deep distress.
Faithful One, so unchanging,
Ageless One, You’re my rock of peace
Lord of All, I depend on You
I call out to You, again and again
I call out to You, again and again
You are my rock in times of trouble
You lift me up when I fall down
All through the storm, Your love is the anchor
My hope is in You alone.
It is with songs and truths like these that you anchor your soul when it feels like the floods are threatening to sweep it away. God is faithful, unchanging, powerful, strong enough to be a rock of strength and refuge to you. Flee to Him and stay there till the storm has passed.
Prayer
Lord, I still love You. I still run to put my trust in You in the midst of this circumstance. O Lord my God, thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and forever – an unchanging rock of strength for me in my weakness.
