Day 175 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”[a] meaning one person, who is Christ.
GALATIANS 3: 16

READING: Genesis 22:18, Galatians 3:16

As I started to explain yesterday, it is Galatians 3: 16 that reveals the nature  of this blessing and its significance for us. It is indeed, an extraordinary  blessing.

In the Galatians 3: 16 passage, Paul stresses the point that all of these  promises were made to Abraham and his one descendant, who is Christ.  These promises were not made to all of the many descendents of Abraham’s  natural family line, but to one person, Jesus Christ. And how are all the  peoples of the earth blessed because of Christ? He is the one who came  to take our sins upon himself so that we could have forgiveness and be  declared righteous through faith. This amazing salvation is not only available  to Jews but to every individual, of every people group, on earth.

If you are in Christ, then you are an heir to the promises given to Abraham.  It is ultimately the ‘land’ of heaven that you will inherit.

PRAYER

I am amazed at what I have learnt since I started considering  Abraham, Lord. Thank you for including me in the promises you  made to him.
