DAY 173- BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE WILDERNESS

We’ve been following the story of the Bible, and in particular, the journey of God’s redeemed people out of bondage and into freedom. Now we’ve reached a stage in their journey that we call the Wilderness in our Big Picture in a Year studies.

For the next 30 days we’ll journey with God’s people from Mount Sinai to the entrance of the promised land in a series of studies prepared for us by John D’achada. Here we’ll see that their lack of trust in God led to their failing to enter the land and continuing to wander in the Wilderness for forty years. The Wilderness module, Module 8 of our Big Picture course, is depicted by a tent because what was supposed to be an 11-day journey, turned into a 40 year camping trip.

The Wilderness wanderings are mainly covered in the books of Numbers and Deuteronomy, 70 chapters in all, that retell the teachings and events of Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers.

This is often not the most popular module of the Big Picture but it is the most necessary, because it allows us to see how God prepares and unites His people as He takes them into the wonderful inheritance He has for them.

Many Christians describe going through a ‘wilderness’ time, so this Faith Station is particularly relevant. It will draw you into a deeper understanding of God’s dealings in your life, as you learn from the example of His dealings with His people in Numbers and Deuteronomy.
