Day 169 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
READING: 1 Corinthians 12: 8–9; Galatians 5: 22
Following on from our discussion yesterday, can you see how faith comes to us as a gift from God (1 Corinthians 12: 8-9) – but also how it grows in us slowly but surely as a fruit (Galatians 5: 22)?
However faith comes, it is always as a result of the planting of the all powerful word of God. The word of God is like a seed; it has an inherent power to produce after its kind. The truth of God’s Word will produce faith and trust in our hearts. This is what Jesus meant when he said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4: 4)
Bearing in mind that faith is produced by God’s Word, it is only wise to spend as much time as possible reading and being trained in the Bible; and time in prayer, listening to the word of God the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER
I admit it Father, sometimes I try to muster up faith in my own strength. How foolish. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Fill me with an insatiable desire for your word and your voice.
