Day 162 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
GENESIS 12: 1

READING: Genesis 12: 4–9

Abram obeyed. He left his country and his household and went throughout  the land that God had given to him. But even this great faith and noteworthy  obedience was not without its problems.

In our reading for today, we meet the first obstacle to the promise of land  that God has made to Abram. The Bible says that the Canaanites were in the  land. In fact, it was their land – we read about this as early on as chapter 10 in  the book of Genesis. Land represents the provision that God had promised  to Abram and his descendants and even though there was opposition to  this provision, Abram decided to continue trusting God. He believed God  by going through the whole land to see all that God had promised to give  him.

Can you imagine his family asking him why they were walking throughout  the whole land, checking it out, when they knew it did not belong to them?  Faith will often look like foolishness, or presumption, to those who do not  understand where faith comes from.

PRAYER

Father, I am very impressed with Abram. Help me to transform this  inspiration into my own actions of faith.
