Day 150 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.
Jude 1:20

Reading: Jude 1:17-23, Hebrews 11:39-40

I Googled what the quality of perseverance was and read this, “Perseverance is the ability to keep doing something in spite of obstacles.” This means that someone who has perseverance keeps doing something despite how hard it is or how long it takes, sometimes never reaching their stated goal.

The last two verses of Hebrews 11 reiterates this definition by saying, “And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised.” What? They got something better. The promise to them was fulfilled in later generations in an even greater capacity than they could have ever imagined. Let’s take Abraham. God said that his descendants would be numerous. When they entered the Promised Land there were about 2 million ‘children’ of Abraham.

That’s why, next month, we’ll be focusing on Abraham as our father of faith.

God wants us to live victoriously, he also wants us to live in perseverance in realising a hope we may not see fulfilled in our lifetime. Our salvation is intended to be multi-generational. We are to birth children of faith.

Look around you, look into the future and realise that it is going to take perseverance to live by faith. Out of that lifestyle of faith will flow blessing that will reach across the generations.

Prayer:

Dear God, give me the strength to persevere and to truly live by faith.
