DAY 144 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE LAW

YOU YOURSELVES HAVE SEEN WHAT I DID TO EGYPT, AND HOW I CARRIED YOU ON EAGLE'S WINGS AND BROUGHT YOU TO MYSELF

Exodus 19: 4

Reading: Exodus 15: 13, 17; Exodus 19: 1, 2; Colossians 1: 13

This section of the Bible, which we shorthand as The Law, begins with a climactic and breath-taking display of God's power. God created an escape route for His people into the desert right through the Red Sea. He also caused the Egyptians to be drowned on that very same route that brought salvation to the Israelites.

Though the Israelites experienced this miraculous intervention, after 3 months of difficult travelling, they began to grumble. There was always something to moan about – no water, no food, they didn’t like the leadership and one and on. Through it all, God continued to faithfully provide for them, and show them the way to His holy mountain. Miracle upon miracle, the entire camp of Israelites finally found their way to the foot of Mt. Sinai, and camped there.

Have you got a story? One where God did the impossible – and not just once, but over and over again? God had determined that the Israelites were His people and that He would set them free and make them His own. He would provide for them and show them His presence. He determined it and He did it; He brought them to His holy mountain – to the fire of His presence.

God has determined that you are His. He has set you free from sin and the kingdom of darkness. Acknowledge today that God has already done this for you. He has already delivered you; He has already provided for you. He has made His dwelling inside you so that you may never doubt that you are His. And, finally, on that glorious day when all is said and done, we will worship him together at His holy mountain!

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, that your victory is complete! That you have already set me free from the kingdom of darkness and that you have determined that I am yours and given me your Spirit.
