DAY 138 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS

AND LET THEM MAKE ME A SANCTUARY, THAT I MAY DWELL IN THEIR MIDST

Exodus 25: 8

Reading: 2 Samuel 7:2, 11-15; Acts 2:1-13

God continues to pursue His plan to live amongst His people – at this point through the constructing of a tabernacle.

The tabernacle, and later the Temple, becomes a key theme in the story of the people of God. This is the place where God and man meet. We don’t serve a distant, impersonal God - we serve a God who is with us, a God who is in us.

Our readings for today show us that when the tabernacle and later, the Temple, was consecrated, it was filled with fire and smoke as the presence of God entered. In Acts 2, on the day of Pentecost, we see the Holy Spirit come with tongues of fire on the people of God. His presence is now in a people, not in a place.

God with us! God in us! That should fill us with wonder, awe and thankfulness.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that You have chosen to dwell in me and that You will never leave. Thank You for your presence with me today.
