Day 134 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

“Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
Numbers 20:12

Reading: Numbers 20:2-13, Luke 12:42-48

Moses lost out on his reward of taking the people into the Holy Land because he did not explicitly obey the command that God had given him. In Luke we read, “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required!”

When God called Moses out of the deserts of Midian he was a shepherd. He had a family and he was headed for retirement. As a shepherd his future would be the same day every day. Then God appears. I love it when God appears. Suddenly everything changes!! A voice from within the bush changes Moses’ destiny and promises him a new country, a new home!

Fast forward to Meribah. God gives Moses the solution to the people’s need for water. Moses gets angry. Moses strikes the rock! The result is the same. Water flows from the rock and 2 million people and their animals drink and are satisfied. There’s enough for some time after. But, Moses loses his chance to enter the Promised Land. Why? We think it is because of disobedience. The Bible says that He did not have faith in God.

Let’s make sure that we follow our instructions from God by faith and with obedience. We have a ‘promised land’ waiting for us. Praise God!

Prayer:

Dear God, open my ears so that I can hear you clearly.
