DAY 134 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS

AND MOSES BUILT AN ALTAR AND CALLED THE NAME OF IT, THE LORD IS MY BANNER..

Exodus 17: 15

Reading: Exodus 17

As we read the story of God’s people, we see the people of God marking moments of victory and Divine revelation by naming places after the event and by building altars to God.

Today we read about the first battle in which the people actually participated – a battle against the Amalekites. They fought under Joshua’s leadership while Moses interceded before God on the mountain. It was a decisive victory.

God calls us on a journey of maturity and growing in Him. It’s a sign of maturity and growth when God calls us to start partnering with Him in battle, in faith and perseverance, and not just as passive recipients of His blessings. We need to mark the moments of victory and breakthrough in our lives by ‘building altars of remembrance’ to remind us of God’s victories and promises to us.

Prayer

Thank You for the victories in my life. I celebrate all You have done in me and are doing.

For the family

Draw a time line as a family – marking when you got married, when each member was born, when you got born again and so on. Now mark on your timeline the key events or moments of God’s provision and revelation for you as a family. Take some time to praise Him and give thanks for these times.
