Day 129 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Exodus 14:29

Reading: Exodus 14:19-31

The Israelites had just experienced the ten plagues of Egypt which had secured their freedom. They left Egypt with a fortune in silver and gold, clothing and chattels, animals and livestock. Their God had provided everything they could want. And then they came to the Red Sea.

They were between a rock and a hard place! A very similar place that we have experienced in our lives. They looked around for options and there were none. They were camped on an isthmus of ground facing the Red Sea. Water to the front and both sides, and behind them? The thundering sounds of the Royal Egyptian Mounted Expeditionary Force. What were the Israelites doing in preparation for the confrontation? Pleading to go back!! They wanted to go back to Egypt so they could die from beatings and hard labour in their hard beds. In the midst of this pandemonium God said to Moses, “Raise your staff” and slowly, ever so slowly, the Red Sea parted! We read in Exodus 14:31 Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD. Faith after the fact.

When you are between a rock and a hard place what are you thinking? You can trust God to part the Red Sea you are facing, or do you want to negotiate, go back?

Prayer
