DAY 128 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS

BUT MOSES SAID TO THE PEOPLE, “DO NOT FEAR! STAND BY AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD WHICH HE WILL ACCOMPLISH FOR YOU TODAY; FOR THE EGYPTIANS WHOM YOU HAVE SEEN TODAY, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN FOREVER. “THE LORD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU WHILE YOU KEEP SILENT.”

Genesis 17: 5

Reading: Exodus 15:1-3; 13

As we saw yesterday, our God is not a God who is distant and uninvolved. He is present to lead and guide.

As our warrior He has defeated our biggest enemies, sin and death. Jesus fought on our behalf and defeated death and sin and we stand firm in his victory. As our shepherd He leads us in this life to His father – where there is peace and joy.

Be on the lookout for these two aspects of God’s service to you. Sometimes He will show up as a warrior who fights for you. ‘Stand back,’ He will say, ‘I’ve got this.’ At other times, He will operate as a shepherd to lead you to places of rest and refreshing. He knows what you need, and when.

The world teaches us that if we don’t stand up for ourselves, no-one else will. It takes great faith to be silent and let Him fight for you.

Prayer

Jesus, my warrior King - thank you for defeating my enemies. Lord, where I want to fight for my rights and bring what I think is justice, help me to trust you.

For the family

Engage

Take some time to talk with your kids – find out if there are any areas or situations that they are fearful of or feeling concerned about. Explain how Jesus has defeated death and sin and so we don’t need to fear now. He can defeat our biggest enemy and He can defend us in everyday life.
