DAY 124 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS

AND WHEN YOUR CHILDREN SAY TO YOU, ‘WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS SERVICE?’

Exodus 12: 26

Reading: Exodus 12: 21-28; Exodus 13: 8

God gives us object lessons – natural activities, like water baptism, communion, marriage celebrations, funerals and so on,  to help us understand and remember spiritual principles.

These activities do not just speak to us adults, but provide great opportunities to share with our children too.

We as a family became aware that other cultures and faith groups have practices that shape their identity that they hold to strongly. But we in our desire to not be “religious” or caught in tradition had wasted opportunities to celebrate and explain what God has done for us. And so, we intentionally look for ways to use the festivals of Easter, Christmas, communion, water baptisms etc. to share the realities of faith.

Do your children just see you attending meetings and events or are you modelling faith and obedience in a way that your kids can imitate?

 Prayer

Lord thank you for the object lessons You place around us to remind us of Your ways and works in our lives. Help us to take our kids on this journey and let them experience You in their lives and not just be at our meetings.

For The Family

Engage

Use your wedding rings as an example of a practical, physical thing that shows and reminds you of the promises and love you have between each other.

Explain how the bread and juice are symbols of Jesus body and blood and have communion together as a family.
