DAY 80 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE FALL & THE FLOOD

But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.

Reading: Genesis 1: 24-26; Genesis 7: 21, 22; Matthew 24; 2 Peter 3

Today is the second last day of our studies from Genesis 3 -11. As we draw to the end of our Big Picture in a Year studies on the Fall and the Flood, it will be good for us to examine a major and very important theme that emerges from this section of the Bible - God's Judgment. 

The Flood represents a time in humanity's history when God brought a universal judgment upon the earth. That was thousands of years ago. But Jesus himself, and the apostles, spoke about a time that is yet coming, when the world will be universally destroyed again - this time by fire. 

Make sure you actually read the Readings for today. They clearly portray that there will be another universal catastrophe on Earth, a final judgment from God. The unnerving thing about all these prophecies is that they relate that humanity will not be ready or prepared for this judgment - just as they were not ready or prepared for the Flood. 

It's not as if Noah didn't warn and preach. He did. But he was scoffed at - just as the church is scoffed at today for warning of a final judgment. 

Don't stop warning. Be a fool for Jesus if you must. 

Prayer

Lord, help me and everyone I love to be ready for the end. Give me courage to warn others too.

You have to be very careful in the way you tell of the final judgment. Children can become filled with because they are not emotionally vigorous enough to handle such things.
