Day 8 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
Reading: Matthew 15: 24; Luke 15: 1-32
Yesterday we saw how the whole world is in a lost condition. Nevertheless, the Father initially sent Jesus with a primary, and very important mission, to just one people group on Earth. His very own people, the nation He had chosen for Himself, the nation He had chosen to take His Word to the rest of the world, had, in itself, become lost.
Israel had become blind guides who were only able to lead people into ditches and drains, and not to the gates of Heaven. They had lost touch with their God. They had lost touch with truth. They had lost touch with salvation.
There were many reasons for this – political spirit, corrupt leadership, neglect, the worries of this world. Sound familiar? There are many things that cause us to wander further and further away from the Lord too, until we find ourselves in a depressed and powerless position. Lost.
Do you find it comforting that God sought to restore and reform His own people before reaching out to the rest of the world? Does it build and secure your faith to know that, now that you too are one of God’s people, He will always be faithful to come and look for you when you ‘get lost’? It should, for the Lord has said I will be with you always, yes, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28: 20).
Prayer
Thank You Lord, that my salvation does not depend on me, but on Your faithfulness. Thank You that You have promised to keep me by Your side.
