The Father: of goodness
There’s a rollicking little praise song that goes: “Through the eyes of faith I can clearly see, God is good, all the time…” I wonder, do you know it? I don’t mean the song, I mean the profound truth the song is expressing.
Jesus knew it. That is why, in the midst of his greatest darkness, as he wrestled to embrace his impending crucifixion, he was able to say “nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." Jesus knew the Father. And because he knew the Father, knew His character, knew His goodness, he could submit to His will, even though it was demanding so much from him.
Jesus wants to reveal the Father to you too. What do you say?
Prayer
Lord, I have always been so challenged by your devotion to the Father; but now I realize that it was based on your knowledge of Him. You could follow Him so obediently, even to the cross, because you knew Him so well. Reveal the Father to me too, I ask.
