DAY 266- BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXILE
Reading: Jeremiah 25: 11, 12; Daniel 9: 1, 2; Ezekiel 12
Technically, the Exile period deals with the history of Israel during the 70 years of captivity in Babylon. There are two main Scriptures that bookend this period of Exile.
The first is found in Jeremiah 25: 11, 12 in which the period of exile was first prophesied:
“This whole land will be a desolation and a horror, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, declares the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation.”
The second is found in Daniel 9: 1, 2 and it speaks of the fulfillment of those 70 years:
“In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.”
Talk about precision prophecy! This was clearly no random political event, but a carefully orchestrated act of God.
When you first got saved, you probably looked back over your life and saw how carefully orchestrated your own salvation was. Praise God, He is in the details. He loves you and knows you better than anyone.
Prayer
Thank you Lord that I was not my own Saviour. My salvation was not even my idea, but yours. I feel so secure knowing that.
FOR THE FAMILY
Share your salvation story with your family, especially the parts where God was at work in your life before you knew Him, and without you even knowing about it.
