Day 206 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
Reading: Matthew 7: 13, 14; Matthew 28: 19-30
I want to spend some time looking at another related, equally important, purpose of the baptisms.
I said earlier that when the Church makes too small a deal of baptism, then we lose out on a major tool. In fact, the baptisms are not just prophetic actions indicating change of state and identity, they are not just the means of entering into a new, mature condition of life – they are also a clear set of instructions on how to live the Christian life.
Of the seven foundational doctrines, Baptisms is the one that gives you clear practices to follow, after you have been born-again. You can think of them as the narrow way of your new life, the journey you will take between your new birth and your entering into eternity.
Baptisms thus, are a lifestyle.
And what’s more, because baptisms are mostly outward and physical activities, they become a demonstrable part of your Christian witness that are easy for others to observe.
Prayer
Thank You that You did not leave me without a path to follow.
For the family
Discuss how baptism into the church could be a witness for other people regarding Christ.
