Day 188 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

“Pull me out of the net, “Into Your hand I commit my spirit, for You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.”
Psalm 31: 4, 5

Reading: Psalm 61: 1, 2; Ephesians 3: 20; 1 Corinthians 1: 30; Ephesians 1: 1-14

These are the words that Jesus spoke from the cross. The Word of God was always in his mouth, not surprisingly, for he is the very Word of God. These are the words of someone who knows that the current circumstances are beyond his control – and he must commit them to God.

In Jesus’ case, he was going to die and then be raised again on the third day – all very much out of his control.

Is that how you feel now? Somehow, you’ve ended up tangled in the enemy’s net, helpless as a fish out of water, desperate. My situation was not as dire as Jesus’,  but I still felt out of control because I needed healing of body and mind and I could not accomplish that for myself.

Perhaps your situation is also like that. Commit then, your life and situation, fully into God’s hands. Allow Him to be your strength when you are weak, to act on your behalf in His great love for you. He is the Rock that is higher than you are and there are times when you are simply helpless and utterly dependent on God. There is One who can get you out of your situation, the Lord Himself.

Circumstances don’t stump our God, always remember that. You NEVER have to take the circumstances into account when praying to God. He lives and moves way, way above and beyond our circumstances. He is, after all, the God who caused the sun to stand still so that Joshua could finish off the enemy in battle (Joshua 10: 12, 13). Don’t allow current circumstances to limit your prayers. Pray like you know you’re praying to the ultimate authority of, and beyond, the Universe. Put your trust in the One who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.

The enemy will try and limit your trust and faith and prayers – but don’t you let him. The truth is, God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that you could ask or think.

When you were still His enemy, He sent Jesus to die for you. How much more will He help you now that you are reconciled to Him?

In good times and bad, one truth remains – you are the redeemed of the Lord. Jesus has purchased you with his blood. Your sins are forgiven, your sicknesses healed, your eternal salvation assured.

These are the truths Satan seeks to rob you of in times of stress, breakdown or extreme distress of body, mind or soul. But don’t you let him. Whenever you have a little bit of strength, say these words out aloud You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. I am redeemed and healed by the stripes and blood of Jesus.

The Word of God is a mighty and powerful force, it’s a creative force that can actually produce the thing it speaks of. The Word of God is your weapon of choice in times of distress. Believe me, I know it’s not easy to speak out the exact opposite of what you are experiencing and feeling – but this is an effort you MUST make. You will soon see that it becomes strength to you.

Jesus redeemed you, bought you back, more than two thousand years ago. The day you believed that it became real for you. Nothing can take you out of his hand.

Dear one, take courage in the power and strength and love of your God today. Take one step closer to Him, commit your life and circumstances into His mighty hands.

Prayer

Jesus my Saviour, in you is everything I have need of for life and godliness. Thank you that I can pray BIG prayers in your name. Lord, into Your hands I commit my life, my situation, my fears and my troubles. Help me, I pray, for this is all too strong for me.  Redeemer, Liberator, Healer, Lord – thank You that this truth remains – You have redeemed me and that is an eternal work.
