DAY 182- BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE WILDERNESS
Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commands.
Deuteronomy 8:2
Reading: Deuteronomy 8:3-5, Hebrews 5:12-14
The moment you accepted salvation through Christ, God began His stupendous, transformative work in you through His Holy Spirit.
Up to now we’ve examined three effective tools that God used to change the people who came out of Egypt from slaves, into His children – the sacred feasts, the law and the building of the tabernacle.
Today we’ll see that the Wilderness wanderings themselves were also used to teach His people His ways. The forty years of delay served to humble, test, teach and discipline all the people. This was God’s MDS, His Mobile Discipleship School. During this time, He taught His people to live relationally with Him, by every word that came out of His mouth.
Let us not fail to learn from these Wilderness wanderings. The Holy Spirit also wants you to grow into maturity through the practice of taking communion, receiving, and loving, God’s law, and joining other believers to form a consecrated space for God’s presence.
Remember, we cannot go into our promised land alone, we must go in as the united people of God. Don’t blame God, or anyone else, for the delays you have experienced in your life. Rather ask the Lord to join you to a people who desire to learn the same qualities as those in the Wilderness wanderings did. We must learn to be a people who will not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God’s mouth.
Prayer
Lord give me courage to live by Your word and to seek out and walk with those who have a like precious faith
For the family
For the next 2 nights, explain the studies in an age-appropriate way. Then watch this representation of the Tabernacle and explain what the different elements and pieces of furniture mean.
