Day 176 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

READING: Genesis 3: 15, Genesis 22: 18, Galatians 3: 16

We come to the last of the promises that were made to Abraham and his  seed, or offspring – the promises listed in Genesis 12: 3 that we have been  looking at over the last few days as we have considered Abraham.  

What does this final promise say? That through Abraham and his seed, all  the peoples of the earth would be blessed. That’s a phenomenal promise;  after all, there are billions of people on the earth today! And apparently,  all of them have been blessed through Abraham and his seed. What does  this blessing look like today? If we read carefully we will note that God had  already spoken about a seed (the offspring of a woman) that would come  and crush the head of the serpent (revealed in Revelation 12: 7-9 as Satan)  - in Genesis 3. Could this be one and the same seed? Perhaps this is how  Abraham and his seed have blessed all peoples, everywhere. Or perhaps  Abraham has blessed mankind by his faith in God, by being the father of all  who put their trust in God to save them.  

Of course, these are all great blessings but the real meaning of this blessing  is to be found in Galatians 3: 16. How does it feel to be the recipient of a  promise that was made to a simple man, millennia ago? 

PRAYER 

Father, your time frames just boggle my mind. Help me to fully grasp  that you straddle the aeons, that you are the alpha and the omega,  the first and the last, the I AM of eternal reality.
