Day 163 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
READING: Genesis 12: 6–9
Let us consider Abram’s response to the seemingly insurmountable difficulties of receiving God’s promise of land. What might his response have been?
He may have buckled immediately in the face of the Canaanite occupation and doubted either God or himself. “I obviously didn’t hear right,” he may have been tempted to say. Or, he might have become belligerent and annoyed with God. “How do you expect me to stay here, with all these Canaanites?” he may have riled. Our reading for today shows us that he had neither of these responses; he just believed God, acted on his faith and called on the name of the Lord.
The provision that God has made for us will also be challenged but we, like Abram, must find a way to express our faith; we must do something that shows that we believe the promise of God. It is not real faith that says “I believe God” but never acts on the promises that God has made.
PRAYER
Open my eyes Lord to see the great and precious promises that you have made to me and my family by being in Christ. Lord I declare that I take these promises seriously and I call on the Name of Jesus to make these promises come to pass in my life.
