Day 149 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29

Reading:  John 20:24-29, 2 Corinthians 5:1-10

We South Africans have an expression (Sien is glo) that when literally translated sounds like this, “Seeing is believing.” I think that this expression was linked to money and comes from the days of the Great Depression when very few people actually had hard cash.

These days we keep our money in the banks. Since the introduction of cashless payments we do not even see our money. Faith works in the same way. In Day 3 we spoke about faith being the currency of heaven. Similarly, heaven is the bank of our faith currency. Whether we believe it or not we have an unlimited deposit. When you had paper cash you believed that you could have the equivalent value that was printed on the face of the note and it worked. Now that you have a debit or credit card you also believe that you have the equivalent value and it works when you present the card. The Bible says that you have “precious promises” – health, peace and joy which are cashed in by exercising faith. Sadly, so few people believe the promises and consequently live in spiritual poverty.

We need to take the promises of the Bible at ‘face value’ and cash them in. We are responsible for our faith balance. We can never overdraw our account! Start trusting God.

Prayer:

Dear God, teach me how to faithfully administer my faith so I can be a blessing.
