DAY 148 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE LAW
THEN I WILL DWELL AMONG THE ISRAELITES AND BE THEIR GOD. THEY WILL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD THEIR GOD, WHO BROUGHT THEM OUT OF EGYPT SO THAT I MIGHT DWELL AMONG THEM. I AM THE LORD THEIR GOD.
EXODUS 29:45-46
Reading: Exodus 25: 8; John 1: 14; Revelation 21: 3
God wants to dwell amongst His people.
Not only does He deliver us, provide for us, protect us, call us as a kingdom of priests and reveal Himself to us – He himself is at the centre of it all. That is why God brought the Israelites to Himself and started to show them who He is and how they were to shape a society and a culture in such a way that He could dwell amongst them.
We push Him away; we’ve always pushed Him away. But that has not dissuaded Him, though it has dissatisfied Him. He is relentless in His pursuit of us.
Don’t push God away, even when you sin. Your guilt and shame is a tool the enemy uses to drive you away from God but God is able to use your guilt and shame to bring Him glory.
He dwells in you, and He speaks to you. He wants an intimate relationship with you – one in which you call upon His name, and He responds.
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and relentless pursuit of me. Thank You for Your love and how You show me Your love in so many ways each day. Thank You that You want to be with me – I choose never to run from You!
For the family
Explain
Ask your children if they believe they can ever run from your love as their parent. Now explain to them that God’s love is even greater than your human love and they need never run from Him.
Engage
Younger Children
While the older children spend some time journaling, let the younger children draw a picture of how they see their relationship with Jesus.
Older Children
Spend some time with your children journaling, where they can write down what is going on in their mind and hearts to God and then write down what they hear God is saying to them.
