Day 141 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Barak.
Hebrews 11:32

Reading: Judges 4:1-24

When I first read our key verse for today, I was intrigued. So, I went and read the full story in Judges. I discovered that the judge/prophetess had been the inspiration for the general to wreak destruction on the enemy of Israel by the power of God. Faith against overwhelming odds.

Let’s review the story. The judge Deborah calls for general Barak to come to her. She tells him that God has told her that He wants him to remove the yoke of the enemy, Sisera, from the neck of Israel. He believes her message but then says that she must accompany him or he will not go. Why? Perhaps he was thinking that if she was a false prophet, she would not go down with him. Or, possibly that because God had spoken to her she would be his guarantee of success. The battle goes according to God’s plan and Sisera and his army are totally destroyed. -

Has God spoken to you by way of an unlikely person and encouraged you to take some huge action -  and are you delaying because you want to be sure of success?

Prayer:

Dear God, give me the courage to step out in faith on the basis of Your Word.
