Day 132 - FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR

“O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.”
Matthew 15:28

Reading: Matthew 15:21-28

I wonder how many times I have faced a situation and thought that this was the end of the line. Maybe even been down for a few days, or maybe a week or two. Then suddenly, God moves and I am humbled and overwhelmed by the goodness and mercy I receive.

Jesus had wandered far from his homeland into the region of Tyre and Sidon. I have no idea why he went there. Possibly to escape the crowds that were now following him almost everywhere. He has scarcely arrived when someone told someone who told a woman whose daughter was demon possessed, that Jesus from Galilee was there. Within a very short time she was outside the door shouting loudly, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David!” Well, there was no way anyone could ignore her. The disciples tried, they appealed to Jesus while looking over their shoulders. Jesus was almost rude, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and to throw it to the dogs.” But she hung on, her daughter was suffering and she argued, “Even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs!” Jesus responds in compassion, ““O woman, great is your faith!”

I have shouted in desperation a few times in my life, “Jesus, son of David have mercy on me!” Each time God has answered in unexpected ways. When last have you called loudly to Jesus?

Prayer:

Dear God, increase my faith so that I am not afraid to call out to you.
