DAY 116 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS
God heard their groaning and He remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
Exodus 2: 24, 25
Reading: Genesis 12: 1-6; Genesis 15: 12-21
God will always honour His word. This is something you need to be absolutely certain of. If God has said it, His word will come about. Sometimes He may seem slow in fulfilling His word - it took over 400 years in the case of the Exodus - but His word will not return void.
In our reading for today we read that “God remembered”. "God remembered" does not mean that He forgot what He had promised or had lost track of His plan. Rather, the author is using human language to describe the emotion of God in honouring His word.
What are some of the reasons why you may not see God's Word come to pass immediately? Some words or promises that God gives may not be for your life time, they may be for your children or the next generation. Also, you may have given up on God's promises and done things that God needs to correct and reverse. All this takes time.
Have you recorded the words or promises God has spoken to you? If not now is as good a time as any to start. Are there words that have not yet been fulfilled? Have you lost hope? Are you still walking in faith?
Don’t give up. The story of Exodus reminds us that even if 400 years passes, God will honour His promises. You can trust Him.
Prayer
Thank You, God, for Your word over my life! I Praise You for those that I have seen come to pass and I praise You for those that I am yet to see. n for you are faithful to your word. Help me when I wane in my faith regarding your promises to me.
For the family
Have you ever said to your kids “I promise you we will get an ice cream later today”? This is your way of trying to get them to believe you regarding something that they can’t see and that hasn’t happened yet.
Help them understand that when God makes a promise it is already done. They may not see it, but it is already done.
