DAY 115 - BIG PICTURE IN A YEAR - THE EXODUS

Exodus 2: 2
Reading: Exodus 2: 1-12; Genesis 1: 1-24; Genesis 6: 11-22
Today we are introduced to the main character of the Exodus - Moses. Our Readings for today show us the remarkable relationship that exists between Noah and Moses. Can you see it? Both were chosen and selected by God as saviour figures (thus both are shadows of Jesus); Moses was put in a basket and thus saved from the waters that were to drown him, while Noah built an ark which protected his family during the Flood.
It is obvious that before Moses had even learned to walk, he had been elected by God to lead His people out of slavery. Later on in the Exodus story we'll see how reluctant Moses was to actually take up his calling, to the point that he drove God to anger because of his hesitation. What we would see as understandable reluctance, God interpreted as outright disobedience, lawlessness and unbelief.
God, the God who had elected him and saved his life when he was a completely helpless baby, the God who had seen to his training and equipping in the courts of Pharaoh, the God who had dealt with his fleshiness and arrogance in the back side of the desert, this God was the one doing the calling and commanding. Surely this same God would continue to do in and through Moses what He always had?
How do you respond when God asks something of you? Do you, like Moses, say "I can't" or "I'm scared" or "Why me?" or "I don't have enough money" or "I don't have time" or "I don't know how"? Or do you look back over your life and see the powerful, commanding hand of God?
It's amazing what a simple change of attitude can produce. When you put off moaning, groaning and trying to figure it all out yourself and simply say "Lord, You've got this. If You say so Lord then with Your help, I will."
Prayer
Lord, You are good! And all You do is good! Where I’ve stopped seeing Your goodness, help me see Your goodness today.
