Day 10- FOUNDATION STONES IN A YEAR
Reading: Luke 15: 1-10; Matthew 12: 9-14
Jesus often used the metaphor of sheep when speaking about people who had lost their way for whatever reason. The Bible tells us that Jesus always had compassion for them. And that he celebrated greatly whenever a lost child came home.
Like a true shepherd Jesus did not want any of these lost ones to remain lost. However, he also knew that there would be those who would reject any offer of rescue, or salvation. Amongst the religious leaders and the learned people there were those who had too much to lose. They were mesmerised by money or power and status or their religious status. In fact, it was only those who could recognise their lost state, who followed Jesus and who were willing to take the necessary steps to be ‘found’. They were people who were willing to lose what appeared to be important to find that which is truly important. They are the people who recognise a true shepherd.
Take a moment to look around and decide what it is that you consider to be really important. When you have decided that it is the Shepherd, follow him!

Dear God, teach me to hear Your voice so I can follow You.
